Accessibility reviews
Accessible web design means designing a website to be accessible to everyone especially people with disabilities. CotswoldMedia can undertake a preliminary review which will identify some accessibility problems. A preliminary review does not check every accessibility issue and will not find all the problems on a website. A preliminary review combines manually checks and semi-automatic accessibility evaluation tools.
We will select representative pages from the website this will include
- the main entrance page to the website,
- pages with forms and tables,
- pages with scripts or applications that perform functionality,
- pages with informative images and diagrams
Test pages with graphical browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari and others. Test conducted with these browsers include turning off images and using a keyboard to navigate.
Test pages with specialised browsers such as text browser Lynx and a voice browser or screen reader such as Home Page Reader or JAWS.
Use automated Web accessibility evaluation tools such as Cynthia Says and Bobby.
We will summarise the obtained results from the four tasks above. The review will summarise problems found as well as positive aspects which should be continued.
We will recommend follow-ups including a full conformance evaluation which includes HTML markup validation and other tests and ways to address any problems found.
